9:30 SERVICE ALTERNATIVE Join us on Sept. 7th as we begin the new season of Contemporary worship in the fel-lowship hall during Sunday School. Grab a cup of coffee and come on in. This fall we will begin a new dimension by having a special emphasis of the week. First Sunday will be all about Communion. This will give us a chance to really sense the power in the gift that Jesus gave us. We will celebrate Holy Communion every Sunday, but the first week will be more emphasis. The second Sunday will be on prayer. We will sing, we will share in Communion, and then we will learn about prayer, experience prayer, take more time to be in prayer for one another. We will invite prayer for healing as a regular feature of this week. There will be prayer every Sunday, but the 2nd Sunday we will have much more time to pray. The third Sunday will be about answering tough questions. We will sing, we will pray, we will have communion, but then we will open up the floor for tough questions. Each third Sunday will talk about hot topics that are on your mind. Bring your questions. The fourth Sunday we will sing, and pray and have communion, then we will work on getting to know one another better. There will be opportunities to sit and talk to each other, to get to know one another more deeply. The fifth Sunday will be special music along with the singing, the praying the com-munion. Come and see, come as you are, relax and draw closer to God. Pastor Jeff WHAT ABOUT THE OFFERING PLATE? In case you have been wondering about our finances this Spring, since we stopped passing the offering plate, we wanted you to know some of the story. We are making pro-gress. Looking at June and July of 2007 and comparing it to June and July of 2008 we can give you this report: 2007 Income to General Fund $ 79,266.39 of which $ 8040. was loose plate 2008 Income to General Fund $ 84,741.65 of which $ 9228. was loose plate So we are making progress. Blessings on all of you for the part you play to help us grow. Summer is always a low point finan-cially; your help to get us caught up would be greatly appreciated. A small step of $5 more a week for the rest of the year will make a big difference. Thank you.

SERMON TOPIC
THEMES
By Pastor Jeff
This Fall we will be following the Sunday
School topics of the day. The good news is
that will be an introduction to the Bible, the
book of Genesis. You won’t want to miss any
episode. Invite a friend who has questions
about the Bible to join you.  Here is the rough
outline
  “In the Beginning….”
Sept. -  14 God creates Adam & Eve

21Adam & Eve Sin
28 Cain Kills Abel
Oct. -
5 Noah Builds an Ark
12 God Floods the Earth
19 People build Tower Babe
26 Abram follows God’s Direction
Nov. -
2 Lot & Abram Divide the Land
9 God’s covenant with Abram
16 Sodom & Gomorrah
23 Isaac is Born
The idea of this connection is to give par-
ents a step up to help them talk to their chil-
dren about their Sunday School lesson. If you
don’t have children in Sunday School, it will
be a great introduction to Genesis for you and
maybe a tool to talk to non-church friends
BIBLE STUDY ON
GENESIS
By Pastor Jeff
This fall we will explore Genesis in our
Bible Study. Come any week you are able, we
will be meeting on Thursdays at 1:30 and at
7:30 pm. Bring a Bible with you and come
join in the conversation. Classes will begin on
Thursday Sept. 4th . The style will be different
from last year.
We will read the passage being preached on
the coming Sunday and study it together. You
will know what topic is coming by looking at
the upcoming sermon list. This class could be
very helpful to teachers who will cover the
topic a few days later.
This call will give you the chance to ask
questions related to the story, as we wrestle
with the implication to our lives and our faith
story. What can we learn about God, and the
characters in the Bible and ourselves. The
more the merrier, so plan to join us this fall.
The topic will be the same at both 1:30 and
AN INCREDIBLE DAD!
Sure-fire ways to be a Number 1 Dad
Play tic-tac-toe and hide and seek
Be consistent
Buy ice cream cones
Don’t discipline in anger
Count stars together
Pray with (and for) your children
Hug and say “I live you” often
