What are our charter and goals?

The Liberty Grove UMC Administrative Council established the Communications Task Force at its January 2004 meeting. Chaired by the church’s Communications Coordinator, the Task Force is to set in motion the action items from the Vision 2004 Process concerning communications at Liberty Grove. The Vision communications goal reads, We will be a church which communicates effectively (both active request and passive informative) using methods preferred by the recipients (including personal) and allows for two-way communication. The 66 vision issues identified by the congregation can be summarized by saying, Our communications, both internal and external, are in desperate need of expansion, revision, improvement. There is a lack of effective communications within the church. We need better communications overall. Communications needs to be strengthened and broadened.

What do we do?

The Communications Task Force is an all volunteer group which is systematically, and as quickly as possible, solving (or formally passing to the appropriate church committee to solve) the 66 vision issues concerning church communications surfaced by the Liberty Grove members during last year’s visioning process. The Task Force meets monthly on the third Tuesday.

What have we achieved?

As of the April meeting, four of 66 issues were closed, and another six were open, but transferred to other committees of the church. We expect another 30 of the issues to be transferred to other committees with responsibility for their resolution within the coming months. Completed efforts of the committee include the vastly improved Liberty Grove web site (www.libertygrovechurch.org), the purchase of pew cards, articles in the Liberty Bell, bulletin boards and information at Coffee and Conversation, addition of the web site URL to the church outdoor sign, and availability of bulletins in the Library and on the web site throughout the week.

Why come to meetings or contribute to the effort?

Clearly from the fact that 66 vision issues concerned church communications, there is plenty left to accomplish. There should be ample interest throughout the congregation to improve the communications of Liberty Grove UMC. All members are welcome at our monthly meetings, and all ideas are being fully considered.

How can you participate?
